Houston's Westbury Christian @ 2010 Sandra Meadows

Westbury Christian now 22-0 is going for the 2010 Sandra Meadows Title. Coming strong beating THESA in the opening game 74-63 Tuesday December 28th. On a mission to continue the streak topples Mesquite Horn 71-36 to then finish Wednesday by crashing Duncanville pantherettes hope in their own home court 72-61. The wildcats beat Fayetteville from Arkansas today for the semi-final games. Fayetteville beat Houston Westside in a very low scoring game 36.21 Wednesday. While another team from Houston Fort Bend Hightower beating Plano West early today in the final four teams left competing for the title with two coming out of Houston. It's an all Houston finals in Dallas. Westbury Christian lady wildcats will go against Fort Bend Hightower lady canes tonight at 7:30pm. 4 Houston Teams Still on the run for the 2010 Sandra Meadows Title

Fort Bend Hightower over Tyler Lee 60-49. Lady Canes high scorers are Raven Lane with 17 points and Jasmine Prophet with 11. Hightower together with College Park, Houston Westside and Westbury Christian are all still in the "ELITE 8" mix which can possibly be an all Houston FINAL FOUR Thursday, but Houston Westside lost to Fayetteville 36-21 today. Freshman Brianna Turner Shines At Westbury Christian…

December 19, 2010: Winston Dutchin profiles Westbury Christian freshman basketball player Brianna Turner. It’s really great that women’s basketball is now getting the recognition that was long overdue. The city of Houston finally in the mix in Texas pool as the state in the nation hotbed for basketball talents for both girls and boys. The lady wildcats just recently back from the Louisiana’s tournament “Rumble in the Bluff” winning all three games against Pflugerville-Georgetown TX, St James-New Orleans and Louisiana Winfield High School. Two lady wildcats made All-Tournament Team namely Sylvana Okde and Amber Orrange who was also the tournament MVP. They have yet to be challenged this season. Westbury Christian's Amber Orrange - Memorial Hermann Athlete of the Week

Meet the Gridiron Star of the Week featured on December 1, 2010. Amber Orrange is a student at Westbury Christian. Stanford signee guard Amber Orrange was awarded the Memorial Hermann Athlete of the Week. The two time state champion Westbury Christian lady wildcats now with 15-0 season record is looking forward for their third trip to depend the 4A state title this year. Orrange, whose name is certain to spark the imagination of headline writers, is rated the nation's No. 35 overall junior prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz, and is the second player to commit to Stanford in 2011. Orrange is a creative combo guard with athleticism, the ingredients the Cardinal has lacked since the departure of Candice Wiggins. Someone who can break down defenses off the dribble would be a big help to the Cardinal. See video link below:

Kinkaid Falcons over Lady Vikings...


Kinkaid lady falcons hosted the lady Vikings returning the favor defeating the village school lady Vikings to avenge the boy’s varsity lost to the Vikings at home late November. The Village school is having a tough season without the freshman post Alexis Onigbanjo who’s been out on injuries since their 3rd game of the season. Village was out rebounded on both sides of the floors and struggled running their in and out offense not having the presence of a big body inside. The Falcons beat the Village school lady Vikings. They used full court pressure defense to set the tone in the first quarter and never looked back. The Falcons were led by junior Katherine Sullivan with 13 points, freshman Brecca Thomas and junior Carly Gray each had 12 points.

The young players on both teams showed a lot of promises. Freshmen Hannah Cambel and Haley Thompson lead the lady Vikings both with 9 points each.

Lady Wildcats Edged The Panthers 74-47

St. Pius X hosted the Westbury Christian's star studded team loaded with Stanford signee Amber Orrange, Fallon Ellis to Iowa State and the newcomer freshman Briana Turner. The Lady Panthers Danielle Parks lead St. Pius X in scoring with 15 and Alexis Chandler followed with 11 points. High scorer for the Wildcats are Briana Turner 14, Amber Orrange 13 and Caitlin Diaz added 11 points. See game highlights below:
