Texas Jamboree Saturday November 26th

The Village School suffered a disappointing loss to the visiting Central Park Christian team from Alabama. The Eagles coming off a big loss to Westbury Christian Friday came prepared and refuses to go home without a win.
While Strake Jesuit made an easy run against Lamar Consolidated who lost both contest of the tournament missing the services of 6'10" Wanna Bail who did not suit to play for the weekend.
The game was followed by the most anticipated match up of the night between the Lions and the Wildcats. Coach Wise standing on the sideline as he watches #3 Zach Freeman out run the lions for a fast break. While Jack Yates came in to be the favorite over Westbury Christian. The wildcats showed everyone that they can run and hustle just like the lions by winning the contest and beating Yates in their own game. Yates just can't seem to make their trap to work with the Westbury Christian guards led by LJ Rose.

Rose corralled by three lions, but managed to get out of it every time by making great decision on when to pass ahead and when to break the press making Yates pay by scoring on the lions every single time. Below Delvin Dickerson going for slam leaving two lions behind to watch him jam the rims.

Westbury Christian Lady Wildcats Left Untamed Wins Over St John's 61-47 Final

#14 Tiffany Davis

St. John’s tried to tame the lady wildcats, but was unsuccessful. Westbury Christian ran the floor from start to finish and played hard defense all over the floor putting pressures on all maverick guards making it hard to get the ball to their post. Lady Wildcats led by two senior guards Tiffany Davis-University of South Carolina commit and Sylvana Okde-University of Louisiana @ Lafayette. Davis tabbing 36 points and Okde added 11 buckets. It was mainly the Westbury Christian defense that made the difference and gave them the edge covering every maverick where ever the ball is around the floor.

Bianca Winslow Decided To Stay Close To Home...

2012 Houston Bellaire guard Bianca Winslow decided to stay close to home to follow her dad's footsteps former NBA player and UH Cougar Rickie Winslow at the University of Houston. It feels like it was just yesterday and was not too long ago when Bianca was just learning how to dribble with the Houston Jaguars Elite under Coach Jerry. I knew then she will one day play and compete at the next level. She was one of the few girls I continuosly followed growing up from grade school. She played with great passion on defense, but don't let that fool you, because she can score on you from the 3 point line and all around the court. She will be a great addition to the Lady Cougars and will sure help as soon as her freshman year. Congratulations to the Winslow family.

Good Coaching and Team Play Works Well for Awty International

Lacking in size Coach Emanual Davis believed that if he can set the motion of his system to his players and make them confident that it works, he is expecting a great season out of it. Last night Awty International opened their season against a bigger and more physical Emery Weiner and showed a lot of determination to win. Davis said that if they can out run the big girls then they can win the game which they did. The private schools in Houston is now slowly catching up with the trend in basketball competetion which allows and opens door for college coaches to easily pick a decent player that is readily available to tackle college academics and be available to play without compromise. Coach Davis also mentioned that he has conversations with a few college coaches that are very interested in finding girls with such quality. Davis also said " If a girl can handle the academics, coachable and have the desire to play, then they can play for me."

CHSA Wolverines home schooled at The Village 109-28

Shaquille Cleare #44

It takes more than 3 defenders to stop a big man like Shaquille Cleare in the middle. The Village Vikings showed a lot of powers running over CHSA wolverines last night for the Vikings season opener. Having a big man makes a big difference, but without dependable guards still makes it difficult to build a power house. Often times we forget the little things that the guards do for the big man. We tend to over look an assist for a dunk.

Gary Smith #5

Village guards 2012 Gary Smith and Trevion Williams deserves as much recognition. Both guards can flat out shoot from the perimeter and can attack at will making it easy for the big man to create space in the middle. Smith and Williams shots are almost perfect from the field last night causing havoc for the visiting wolverines ending the half time leading 60-20. Village did not stop there, but continued to pound the middle and their perimeter shots around the floor winning by 81 points 109-28 final.
