On January 22, Westbury Christian will host the Kinkaid
School in a varsity boy’s basketball game, and in order to honor the impact Mr.
Garrett had on both school communities, all gate proceeds will be donated to
the Garrett family. We would like to invite the whole community out for a great
night of basketball as well as an opportunity to give back to a family that has
given so much to others.
Mr. Levy Garrett served
several years as a coach at the Kinkaid School as well as with the Houston Lynx
AAU team. Mr. Garrett also held a special place in the Westbury Christian
School community being a Wildcat fan, supporter and parent, as his son Monice
was a 2005 graduate. Mr. Garrett has touched the lives of so many youths in the
greater Houston area. Through the game of basketball Mr. Garrett spread his
infectious joy and love for life and kids.
Mr. Garrett was born on August
19, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas. He attended St. Phillips College and Texas
Southern University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Respiratory Therapy. He continued his education by attending the Consortium
Graduate Program in Allied Health and Administration through Baylor Medical
College, Texas A & M University and the University of Houston, graduating
in 1976 as a Jessie Hoye’ Fellow with a Master’s Degree. He most recently
worked at Riverside General Hospital as Director of the Respiratory Therapy
Department, as an AAU basketball coach with the Houston Lynx, and as an
assistant basketball coach with the Kinkaid School.
