St. Agnes Academy's varsity basketball team will again make the trip to the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) final four on Friday, as the squad gears up to play Forth Worth's Nolan Catholic High School in Arlington.The team defeated San Antonio's Holy Cross High School on Friday to secure a state play-off berth. "We started out strong finishing the first quarter with a 22 to 5 lead. We were outscored in the second and third quarters, but finished the fourth quarter with a 20 to 14 run and the victory," Coach Jeff Hollinger said. In just 10 minutes of play, Sophomore Amber Cooper had four of her eight total blocked shots in the fourth quarter and finished with 10 rebounds; Junior Kellie Pressler had four blocked shots of her own. Junior Jill Jackson had eight steals in the game. Senior Lauren Kleczynski had six assists on the game and Senior Chelsea Bass scored 24 points to lead all scorers. The Tigers finished the season 26-9 overall and 10-0 in district play. They are the current TAPPS 2-5A champions.
