The Lions ended their regular season 26-0 with and average of 118 points per game but continues to make Houston PROUD. The Yates high school basketball team took home its first state championship in boys’ basketball after winning the Texas UIL competition for Class 4A in 2009. The students athletes played under the direction and guidance of Coach Greg Wise. “It is great to see the Jack Yates Lions roar being heard across the country again,” said District IV Trustee Paula Harris. There is always the FIRST and the YATES LIONS IT IS! Let' savor the moments and enjoy their victories.
