As SMOOTH as Silk...

Westbury Christhian School, Senior Guard Sylvana "Silky" Okde will continue her basketball career at the University of Louisiana @ Lafayette. Okde known for her long range 3's and great ball handling skills had improve her game and still continue to add more to her arsenal. UL Lafayette is getting a well rounded guard that can play both 1 and 2 position. I have known her growing up from 7th grade and kept watching her grow into the sport and I knew from then that she will have a very good chance of playing at the next level. I caught up with her at Westbury Chirstian and asked her what helped her decide to commit to UL Lafayette? Her response was "That it was close to home and close enough for her parents and family to watch most of her games and she plans to be able to play all four years and have a good time and fun playing. She also mentioned that the school have known all about her past injuries and surgeries and have not given up recruiting her in contrary to other schools that have tried to recruit her." Lastly I asked who does she have to thanks for getting where she is now? She answered with a quick response... "She thank GOD first because without HIM she wouldn't be where she is now and secondly her family for doing all they can to help her be the best she can be and lastly her coaches and friends, because without them the game wouldn't be competetive or fun and that's what it's all about, having fun!" Ragin Cajuns here she comes... more on Okde

Katy Seven Lakes Guard, Jade Johnson commits to future WAC program

Courtesy of ESPN Hoopgurlz

Bayou-July 11: Splitting time between Houston Elite white and blue teams. Good athleticism and not afraid of contact on either end of the floor. Filled lanes in transition well and played disciplined in the halfcourt. Wasn't a primary scorer in this setting but she has the tools to contribute if she builds her confidence and skills in creating offense. (Hansen)
